Recently the "RealComm Advisory" site posted an article regarding the reluctance of commercial real
estate companies in adopting technology solutions.
Many firms have been very slow to adopt technology solutions due to familiarity with proven (low tech)
tools and or a reluctance to change. Traditionalists can still get the job done using these archaic means, making calls
etc.
The new professionals are gravitating to web based tools that cut their work time drastically.
What still takes hours, days or even weeks to complete can now be finished in minutes and look more professional
in the process.
As the article conveyed, the energy crisis will force these traditionalist to embrace technology...
wasted space, inefficiencies and unaccounted assets will damage their bottom line irreversibly. Globalization is
another factor to evaluate, as without technology, i.e. the web; traditionalists will be mired in paperwork unable
to compete in an ever expanding market.
Unless these companies develope a competent IT department, the lack of technology will put them
out of business.
